CasaSito USA
CasaSito USA has supported educational and development projects in Guatemala since 2004. Our longstanding partner is CasaSito Guatemala which does inspiring work with youth and educators (more information below). We also work to improve health in Guatemala through our collaboration with Joanna Herr’s The Clean Water Project. Plus we have an emergency relief fund to support local relief efforts.
CasaSito Guatemala Education Fund. CasaSito Guatemala’s two principal projects are its Youth Development Program and its Teacher Development Program. The Youth Development Program is a holistic program offering financial assistance, academic and emotional counseling, and life skills and leadership development to disadvantaged junior high, high school, and university students. The Teacher Program offers counseling and orientation in competitive debate which reaches an even broader range of students. For more information go the CasaSito Guatemala website.
CasaSito Volunteer Program. CasaSito has hosted many volunteers over the years, including teachers, administrators, and those with self-directed projects. Volunteers should have at least one month of availability and be conversational in Spanish. Contact us for more information.
CasaSito USA Emergency Fund. While our core mission at CasaSito is education, we cannot overlook the reality that emergencies may hit our students, their families, and their communities in general, and the impacts can set them back just when hopes for the future were high. Over the past 20 years, we’ve been ready to help through illnesses, floods, fires, volcanic eruptions, and the COVID-19 pandemic—offering critical support when it is needed most.
